Little is known about the life of Anthony Holborn (? - 1602) - but what I do know that his music is really marvellous: it is full of colour and enthousiastic liveliness. I do not have words enough to describe how much I've always enjoyed playing these pieces of music (and especially part 4: The Honie Suckle)
This suite is very transparant; it can also be played on violins or other types of woodwind other than the recorder.
All parts are very well - but: I like part 4 (The Honie Suckle) very much because it appeals to the deep inner music in me. I've even dreamt about this music!
