You are purchasing high quality sheet music PDF files suitable for printing or viewing on digital devices. Those who know the words of this song from seeing them in Shakespeare's "Measure for Measure" may be surprised to see the second stanza. When I wrote the song, I was using an anthology which gave the words as by Beaumont and Fletcher(contemporaries of Shakespreare) and said that they were from their play "The Bloody Brother". Recent research has indicated that play to be is by Fletcher and Massinger. Did they take the song from Shakespeare or vice versa? And who wrote the second stanza? No matter! For me it provides a good balance both musically and poetically.
