This piece was written for my wife, Mary, and first performed by her and the pianist Roy Evans at the music club of Llwyngwril, near Fairbourne on the Welsh coast. She gave it a subsequent performance in Shrewsbury some months later, when I accompanied her. For publication on Scorch Music it has been revised and extended. I have hopes that my grand-daughter, the flautist Laura Lucas, who recently won the prestigious Shell Award for young musicians, will at some time be persuaded to learn it.
