In High School we discussed the sonata form in Music History, and I was eager to see what one would look like if made by Michael Drewes. That’s how this String Quartet came into being. It was performed on August 27th, 1964, as "Sonata in G-Major" (Allegro-Adagio-Allegro Finale; the other movements are later additions) with the orchestra of the German School in Mexico City, with Josefina Alvarez Ierena conducting. In those times we could of course not imagine in our wildest dreams that one day "Sibelius" or similar software would exist.

The photograph shows the three cellists, from left to right, Luis Saloma, Michael Drewes and Kenny Reinald Mattheson, and was taken in 1963.
