Original version of String Quartet No. 1 as performed in 1964. The program featured Symphony No. 27 by Joseph Haydn, and so a double bass was hired. I was very thrilled that my piece benefited from it too. Miguel Zenker played the viola; in his honor I provided some conspicuous passages, especially in the second and third movements. The piece was played by six first violins, four second violins, one viola, two violoncellos and one double bass, conducted by Josefina Alvarez Ierena. Bowing indications and fingering of first violin are by Eva Tolksdorff, who was the violin teacher at the time of the performance(1964).
