The only reason we have heard of it, I suspect, is because Schubert wrote this amazing sonata - and it is a truly superb piece of mature Schubert. It is usually played either on viola or cello, but the truth is that neither instrument has the range of an actual arpeggione. So here is my version for string quartet; an obvious choice as it encompasses the entire range of the work. I have applied Schubert’s method of scoring so that the 1st violin shoulders much of the artistic burden. I hope you enjoy it.
