He does have a point, others have pointed out that two violins playing in unison can present intonation problems. I will probably re-work it and split, the melody line between the two players.
There are a some precedents for these kinds of arrangement
1. There are many arrangements of the E minor prelude, so why not do one for the D minor?
2. There exists a complete orchestration of all the preludes
3. There may be some quartets out there who like this piece and want to play it.
4. I did it because I wanted to.
