This is a work loosely in the style of Shostakovich scored for a regular string orchestra but with the addition of a solo Cello part. It is a slow-moving piece which should be played very expressively. It is due to be premiered in Spring, 2007 by the String Orchestra 'Camerata Cambrensis' on the French/Spanish border with my colleague David Johnstone playing the solo Cello.
