"Pox Chimera" is the first solo classical piece in the "Chimera" series, NOT to be confused with any of my other sinister series, that pay tribute to Fiends (not friends) and other horrible beasts of the night and to the marvelous influences, much to many's dismay and chagrin, they have had on my person and my composing.

Since Chimeras possess a natural capacity for breathing fire on your privates, we'll say nice things about them. They are priceless at a campfire or, say, a barbeque. One might try them when some motivation is needed getting to the gym.

The excerpt begins at m. 1 with a simple 16th and 8th note motif in the upper voice and is soon accompanied by a dotted 8th motif in the lower voice. Thus, we have 2/4 against 3/8 and it persists for the remainder. The upper voices consists of octatonic fragments while the lower voices first outline a B7b9 chord and then a Bbdim and ends phrases with maj/min chords. Voices flip at m. 15.

The excerpt and the piece in general will take great care and planning. But if one succeeds it's super groovy and it'll please the Chimeras so. And it certainly behooves one to appease the Chimera, no?

The "Chimeras" series has little in common thematically with the other series yet the music creates a similar sinister and haunting aura. I sincerely hope that you enjoy this piece as well as the other "Chimera" pieces.
