"Chimera Hopium" is the third solo classical guitar piece in the "Chimera" series, NOT to be confused with any of my other sinister series, that pay tribute to Fiends (not friends) and other horrible beasts of the night and to the marvelous influences, much to many's dismay and chagrin, they have had on my person and my composing.

Since Chimeras possess a natural capacity for breathing fire on your privates, we'll say nice things about them. They are priceless at a campfire or, say, a barbeque. One might try them when some motivation is needed getting to the gym.

The excerpt begins at m. 1. The lower voice is in 12/8 and provides a simple accompaniment to the busier 3/2 figure in the upper voice. It's mostly a blues in A which modulates to G in m. 8 , to E in m. 10, and back to A in m. 14.

The excerpt and the piece in general will take great care and planning. But if one succeeds, one will play well - and it'll please the Chimeras so. And it certainly behooves one to appease the Chimera, no?

The "Chimeras" series has little in common thematically with the other series yet the music creates a similar sinister and haunting aura. I sincerely hope that you enjoy this piece as well as the other "Chimera" pieces.
