Each movement of Pocket Pieces uses the same simple layout: 14 bars, where bar 11 is the climax of each movement. There are many tonal references and almost-triadic-structures that are not so subtly concealed in the music. The music is almost atonal, but, for me, the point was not so much an exploration of atonality, but an exploration of new formal structures and chromaticism.
