My winning entry for the Bourne Concert Band's "Calling All Composers" competition. The brief was to write a piece up to 7 minutes long as a celebration of life. The piece is dedicated to the memory of David Allen, a talented young euphonium player and band member who was tragically killed in a road traffic accident. "Piece For David" was premiered on Saturday 22nd March in Woking, Surrey, in the presence of David's parents who, I am delighted to say, told me it was just the kind of piece that David would have enjoyed playing. This version has slightly reduced instrumentation.
