I have fallen in love (much like anyone else who's heard this piece) with the Faur? "Pavane" on first hearing. It was a Barenboim recording, and the "Pavane" was preceded by the Requiem. What a relief it was to hear the "Pavane", finally something I could associate with!… Several years later, my gig-quartet's (as I call it) cellist decided to arrange this piece for the quartet. He did well, but he did it by hand and there were many mistakes. I said I'd make my own version – it's taken me about a year to get to find the time….

This version is my "Dream" version – it's a combination of being authentic to the score, and of being free to make your own suggestions (such as spreading the melody notes amongst various parts, the way I hear it in my head, as a series of canonic immitations).
