You are purchasing high quality sheet music PDF files suitable for printing or viewing on digital devices.I was asked to arrange this piece by a local group of instrumentalists who were playing for an Elizabethan night. I have arranged it for 2 trumpets, tenor and bass trombone. The bass trombone could easily be played by the tuba - that just leaves the french horn player…. you guessed it to play the tenor drum part. It worked well on the night and was well recieved. I have posted an alternative arrangement of this piece for 4 trombone plus tenor drum - check it out. The interesting thing about this composer of which we know very little, is that most people call him Thoinot Arbeau. So this piece became Arbeau's pavane, in fact Arbeau is an anagram of his real name Jehan Tabourot. Perhaps he used the pseudonym because he was a church canon in Langres in eastern France.
