PARASITES LOST is an experimental piece, a brief tone poem for woodwind octet, strings, and a smattering of percussion. This piece features polymodality, polytonality, and florid counterpoint. Structure Simultaneous duel (dueling) subject/themes with variation; the variations result from a process of continual modal interchange. (Cf. associated short pieces "Contradiction," and "Non-Contradiction")

Instrumentation 4 recorders (sopranino, soprano, alto, tenor), flute, oboe, English horn, clarinet, bassoon, alto saxophone, percussion (2 bongos, 2 congas, crotales, bell tree or glockenspiel), 4 solo strings (violin, viola, cello, bass), violins, violas, cellos, basses

Lastly, the "four" recorder parts may be handled by just two performers, doubling alto/sopranino, tenor/soprano. [Individual instrument parts will be uploaded soon, or on demand; there are additional Performance Notes as well]
