’’Paraguayos, Republic o muerte’’(Paraguayans, the Republic or Death’’ are the words of the national anthem of the Republic of Paraguay, written in 1846 by the director of the state library of Paraguay, Francisco Acuna de Figueroa (1790 - 1862. The setting to music was made by Professor Remberto Gimenez (1898 - 1977), who was director of the college of music in the Paraguayan capital Asuncion. On 12th of May 1934, the work was declared by decree to be the national anthem.
