I first developed this idea for a composer's competition held at the Victoria Conservatory of Music in 1986. At that time, I (as soprano) was performing with two other women, Barbara Ebell (alto) and Elizabeth McPherson (piano) as the Notabelles. Here I have extensively revised the piece for women's chorus with mezzo-soprano solo, accompanied in performance by oboe and bassoon and in rehearsal by piano.
I dedicate this piece to my children, Alun, Jessica, Grant and Ian, all of whom over the years enjoyed summer days of simple living at the cabin on Shuswap Lake.
