This intermediate level piano piece (2 min. 20 sec) is the last in a series of twelve impromptus inspired by the sounds of childhood, namely the soundtracks from early nineties video game systems like Nintendo. This arrangement was inspired by the theme from Super Off Road, an arcade game I played as a kid numerous times in the movie theater lobby. It's a fun mash-up of Bluegrass, Honkytonk, Disco, and Afro-Cuban music.

The A-section is straightforward. Though it requires independence of hands, it's a relatively light texture that should be simple to navigate with minimal sustain pedal. The B-section has a metric modulation that may take some getting used to. Just remember that the quarter pulse becomes the dotted quarter pulse in the new section. Also, the tempo can be relaxed a bit in this 12/8 section. Metronomic perfection isn't required. The last section returns to the original tempo and meter.

I've had a great time working on this series and thought it was appropriate to go out on a bang. I hope you enjoy playing this one as much I did writing it!
