It was only natural, therefore, that I should do a reduction of the first Waltz I published. For that matter, this is my first attempt at a piano reduction. My approach was not so much to transpose the notes, per se, although that was obviously done in the simpler passages, but to transpose the sounds from the one medium to the other. Obviously playability was a concern of mine, and I paid a great deal of attention to this, simplifying where possible, as long as this was not at the expense of the overall sound.
Without a doubt, there are people more experienced with piano reductions who might have done things differently, not to mention better. Nevertheless, being offered at this time is Michelle’s Waltz for solo piano, (Oct. 2001) a Waltz that I dedicated to my beloved wife, who passed away on June 1, 2021.
