The piano part in this stand-alone version is a slight reduction when compared with that of the larger work - to make life easier for the pianist.
The words are from the famous poem by John McCrae, often heard during the annual Remembrance Week.
"Sacrifices" was premiered by Ripon Choral Society, directed by John Dunford, and accompanied by the Orchestra d'Amici. The performance was in Ripon Cathedral during Remembrance Week 2014 - marking the centenary of the outbreak of World War 1. Other sections of this secular oratorio, and the complete vocal score, are also available on this website.
