A new SATB setting of this well-known Christmas carol usually sung to David Willcocks’ 1960 arrangement. This lively melody in 6/8 cries out for a dance setting, and that is what I have aimed for. A simple start, SA alternating verses with TB, then more emphasis on the triple rhythm develops. Verse 6 has "bells ringing" in the lower 3 parts (pitch doesn’t vary) under the soprano melody. Verse 8 has a 3/4 cross rhythm (easy!) in alto and tenor. Last verse indulges the 6/8 dance rhythm fully.
