This is a short piece for concert band, from my (still to be completed) suite " A Suite of Northumbrian Dances" . Inspiration for this piece is Copland’s Hoe down. The suggested tempo"Con moto (with a bit of a stagger on) is a local Northumbrian expression to indicate too much ale has been imbibed!!. The additional 3/8 bars in a 2/4 Time Signature add to the fun. This latest version has been revised slightly(more accents and changes in rhythm) (Howick is a small village to the North East of Alnwick, Northumberland in the UK.)
