These were written for various playing days hosted around the UK by branches of the Society of Recorder Players, including Manchester, Essex, and York. The Manchester Hornpipe and Farewell to Manchester are brought together in a quirky style similar to a Rossini overture. The Dark-eyed Sailor is set with a rather pensive and pacing air; watch out for the lopsided 5/4 bars! The suite finishes with a waltz that blends the contemporary tune of The Yorkshire Waltz with a very familiar 'Scarborough-related' melody.
