This is our new tune-book for 2014: 18 short pieces and studies arranged for our school orchestra and handbell team. We always start our rehearsals with a scale, so as well as many popular folk tunes, this book also includes D major, G major and E (natural) minor arranged for the whole orchestra to play in unison.
The parts are tailored for our own school orchestra but can easily be adapted to suit yours - here you will find open string violin & cello parts, limited range clarinet, trumpet and trombone parts and limited range 2nd recorder parts for beginners. The bassoon part is tricky (up to grade 3) and the piano parts are tailored to challenge our talented grade 2 pianist. 1st violin parts use first position, 2nd violin parts use the basic 1st position (no 2nd finger pulled back). Percussion parts use instruments that are in our school music room.
We have a separate handbell team which rehearses at a different time from our orchestra, so the handbell part will stand alone if you don’t have a school orchestra to play along with. Or you can add any or all of the instrumental parts to play along with your handbell team to make best use of the talent in your school, i.e. handbells and recorders or handbells and violin.
Please feel free to print and adapt these parts to suit your own school’s needs. If you’d like a copy of the original sib7 file, you can contact me (Katrina) through
