A short sad piece, no. 2 of the Recorder & Piano collection, dedicated to Sabine Federspieler, and to her particular fondness of improvisation. When she got her new bass-recorder, she asked immediately for something to play… 'but, Paul, please, don't write long tones…!' Well… The last phrase in the blockflute part has to be played on the piano by the flautist, this creates some sort of non-musical motion within the otherwise very static and quiet piece.
