You are purchasing high quality sheet music PDF files suitable for printing or viewing on digital devices.I am currently learning to play the flute and loving it so have decided to write a series of exercises, pieces, and duets in order to help me and other beginner flautists. More pieces will follow over the next few weeks. I am always interested in how my pieces (particularly educational pieces) are being used. I have therefore decided to offer all my beginner flute music free, but would ask that you drop me an email to say how you are using it and feel free to include any comments or requests. My email is: guybunce@hotmail.com
The 'Five Duets for Beginner Flautists' are aimed at the pre-Grade 1 level although there are a number of notes that go outside the range of what is expected at Grade 1. Also the pieces (particularly The Haunted Flute) can be used to teach points of theory.
Study in D minor: The first flute has the more complicated part with the second flute acting as accompanist. The second part is ideal for a beginner flautist who has learnt their first few notes. It also serves to introduce slurring and the note F#
Waltz of the Rulers: This regal piece again has a more advanced top part, but this time the second flautist gets to play the melody in the middle section whilst the first accompanies.
Nocturne: The Nocturne makes use of F# and Bb and could be used to teach the Bb key.
The Haunted Flute: This duet is based on two motivic ideas which together create a mysterious sound. The main melody is equally shared between the flutes to sustain interest. The use of E#s is the result of the scale employed as is the alternation between G# and Ab. Both these points could be used to explore the use of accidentals and how they work and relate.
Pavane: This duet makes use of modal scales and introduces the note G#. On repeating, the second flautist should finish on the low D.
