The arrangement of Kurt Hoeksema’s poem Evensong is for SATB a cappella choir with a few short sections of divisi in the base and soprano voicing. The text is sad and mysterious to a lost love. The lament section should be sung freely, but no faster than the main section of the piece. Although this work has the characteristic of being in mostly minor, there are beautiful moments of lush choral writing accessible to all voicings.
