My great-grandfather Henry Herman Ludwig Kotter was introduced to the Mormon church in the early 1860's when he heard a congregation singing this hymn while he was walking down the street in a small Danish town and was known to say in his later years that we no longer sing Come, Come, Ye Saints like we used to. In an attempt to create a setting that might sound like the one he heard, I have based this version on the setting of All is Well found in The Sacred Harp. Listeners will note the typical harmonic language of shape-note music, although I have moved the melody to the soprano, with the tenors singing the part originally given to the sopranos (trebles). The only other change is one in tempo, from 4/4 to 6/8, in order to better match Claytons words. I hope you enjoy it.
