A rare and little known Galician carol in the form of a hauntingly beautiful lullaby that is also a love song to the Saviour. The words dictate the dynamics, but it is best sung softly throughout the 9/8 first half, and no less softly in the hymn-like second half, especially when the words focus on the Babe shivering in the cold of mid-winter. Perhaps this arrangement and translation will make the carol better known to the English-speaking world at Chrsitmas.
