The first measure of rest is intentional. The pleading must begin before the actual voices are heard. The singers should create the atmosphere in their stance. If professional voices are not available, a soprano may sing the third part. The "Christe" ends and there is silence. The women, heads down, now lift their faces with a new countenance, "Gloria!"

The Gloria section is the shortest "Gloria" I have ever written. The tessitura of the voices will cause enough crescendo - keeping the line delicate yet refreshing in sound. The "Gloria" offers a strong contrast to the "Christe Eleison" and the "Kyrie Eleison." This short work holds a depth of emotion and captures the congregation. I believe your female voices will enjoy the power of this work. Thank you.
