This was written for Sean Turpin and his cello group. I called it Cellissimo as it is written (vaguely) in the style of Rossini. The cello parts vary in difficulty, from Cello 4 (open strings) to Cello 1 (open heart surgery), which is why note progressions are passed unexpectedly from one cello part to another, and some parts cut off at unexpected moments.
I would like to thank Robert Blais and Blazin' Cellos for giving this work its world premiere in June 2010.
