The piece is designed to be played by an amateur string orchestra with each part divided into two: (A) = advanced part (grades 3-5), (B) = basic part (grades 1-3). The melody is usually doubled so less-able players are supported. The title of the piece is taken from mythology with Caronte being the boatman taking people across to Hades (the underworld). The piece creates a medieval atmosphere through the repeated drone, dance rhythm and use of the Aeolian mode. Parts can be obtained by contacting me.
