The Northwest Territories and Manitoba were added in 1870. But the case of British Columbia was not straightforward, since three different countries each had good reason to desire jurisdiction over it: Britain, the United States and Canada. This song, from the Cariboo region of British Columbia, argues for union with Canada, which outcome finally occurred in 1871.
