The hymn tune "Breslau" is one of the great German chorales, appearing in "As hymnodus sacer" (Leipzig, 1625). Mendelssohn adapted it for use in his oratorio "St Paul", and in this form it has remained popular ever since. Thomas Kelly's words exhort sinners to learn what Christ has done for them.
