The hymn tune "Breslau" is one of the great German chorales, appearing in "As hymnodus sacer" (Leipzig, 1625). Mendelssohn adapted it for use in his oratorio "St Paul", and in this form it has remained popular ever since. The words are by Charles W. Everest, an Episcopal priest, based in Connecticut.
