This is a viola and piano chaconne, a repeated chordal combination with an upper variation to each repeated section. It is almost a passacaglia, a sister form of a chaconne, where the repetition and variation can appear in both the upper and lower parts. What is the common thread, is the chordal repetition and the cadence with each section. It is both expressive and meditative. There is a choral arrangement of this piece with full orchestra. The ending is light and airy and fades into the ether of Eternity — Timelessness. It musically expresses the belief, or awareness, that love exists outside the circle of time. photo: SL
