The polka owes its name from the celebrations for the day of s.Anna recurrence, which falls on July 26, 1852 (one of the most important holidays of the viennese calendar), although Johann presented his new job two days earlier, on 24 July, at an outdoor festivalA print reporter commented: «Johann Strauß did a beautiful gift to all Anna, Ninas, Nanys Nettchens, etc, with his last polka, Annen-Polka named in their honor. Liked so much because of the charming, melodious and appealing melody, that there were more and more requests to listen.”
