These five pieces collected into a cycle �Album Leaves� were written at Keele (Staffordshire, UK) between July 1996 and July 1997 and could be defined as the �music of solitude�. They are written with no particular purpose or request, and came out as a result of exploration of some uncommon intervallic patterns (9+10, 1+1+11, 1+1�12 etc. in semitones). The pieces are very short, mostly quiet, subtle and fragile, and create an impression of some illusionary visions or dreams. The last piece is a selection of 9 contrasting musical fragments, and pianist has to chose his/her own path between the first and last. The duration of the cycle is between 8 and 10 min.
