This is the the 1st piece from "TWO MAGUC SQUARES. It is based on a 12-tone row (c-f-b-f#-c#-g-d-g#-d#-a#-e-a) explores the three-celled magic square known from ancient Chinese and Arabian manuscripts. It consists of nine numbers, every three of which (verticals, horizontals and diagonals) have in sum 15. I took this idea to organize the rhythmic structure of the piece: every bar of the music corresponds to one of these numbers, having the same quantity of the rhythmic units, so in every three bars there are15 rhythmic units. The process of exhaustion of all variants has 16 steps: including horizontals, verticals and diagonals in all directions.
