For the last few years, each year, I have had in mind the pattern of wanting to compose a programmatic piece for winter with strings and a selection of bells. There is something about this time of year that drives me to write for bells. So this year (2023), I composed a piece titled, “A Wistful Winter”. Why did I put wistful in the title? I know that the tenor of the world around me has something to do with this in my psyche, and my music reflects that. This music evolves through several emotions.

This work is written for String Orchestra, Tubular Bells, Chimes, Glockenspiel, and Celeste. Fingerings are written in the violin parts.
