I have set this charming traditional French/Quebecois folk song for two female voices (a duet or a choir), giving the alto the lead for the French verses and the mezzo-soprano the lead for the English verses. The original format for words was as follows: Verse 1 line A line B; Verse 2 line B line C; Verse 3 line C line D; etc. As this makes for a very long song, I have shortened the lyrics to the core of the story and trust that by providing new English lyrics right after the French ones, I am mimicking the original format. The harp accompaniment can as easily be played on piano.
