Inspired by this poem by Friedrich Nietzsche I composed a piece for string-quartett and Bariton. The figure of Zarathustra, who appears in this poem, was an arabian prophet, whose followers mostly lived and live in India, so I have combined the name with musical influences from India. On the other side you will explore phragments of late romantic period, because Nietzsche had a close relationship to Richard Wagner. I set the words to music with a kind of a "leading motif"-technique like Wagner. The structure of the poem caused this working method, because the poem contains a lot of "leading words", which are repeated several times.
