A song about the Russian winter. "Oh no! The end of the drive has disappeared under the snow again since this morning, and again silvery snakes seem to be slithering over the snowdrifts. There’s not a scrap of blue in the sky. The steppe is completely smooth and white. A solitary crow is struggling to flap its wings against the storm. My soul knows no dawn: it’s just as cold as the surroundings. My thoughts doze off wearily over my unfinished work. But still the hope smoulders in my heart that, maybe, even if just by chance, my soul will begin to feel younger again, and see its native land again, a place where there are storms, but they pass by and are gone, where thoughts are passionate and pure, and where some people can see that Spring and Beauty will bloom again."
