"Nikriz" mode is a chromatic behaviour of a diatonic Aeolian (ancient Hypodorian) mode with raised 4th and 7th degrees. Zeibekiko is a very ancient Greek dance rhythm in 9/4 (more rarely 9/8) with unequal groupings such as 2+2+2+3 and its variants. Some linguists say that its name is associated with the God Zeus and denoting his dual substance. It also is probably the most popular dance in modern day Greece.
