This is an arrangement of an old Sunday School song that I had sung when I was young. I set this as an homage to Tom Lehrer and his song Clementine, to quote Tom Lehrer, "The problem with folk songs is that they are written by, 'The People'!" So I take a very simple childrens song and imagine what other composers through the ages might have done with the text. Quoting Handel, Beethoven, and Johann Strauss, briefly and all for humorous effect, I hope. I read through this with my choir last night and it was quite warmly received. I wrote this for a child choir of Kindergarden, through 2nd grade, as well as an SATB choir. However it can easily done by a single choir.
