YELLOWJACKET MARCH was inspired by an actual swarm of yellowjackets that invaded the band room at Indian Trail Junior High in Addison, Illinois where the composer was the Director of Bands. The march opens with ominous melodies in minor keys before reaching the hopeful Trio section. The break strain brings back the sense of menace and foreboding before the rousing final strain signals the end of danger and triumph over the invading swarm. Sure to be a hit with band and audience alike, this piece is approachable by instrumentalists with only a couple years of playing experience.
