Here is the beginning of a Wind Octet in Eb in the style of Mozart. The instrumentation is unusual (flute, oboe, clarinet, basset horn 1+2, bassoon, horn 1+2) because I wanted to explore rich textures and harmonies in the tenor/bass register. I realise that today the basset horn is a rare instrument outside of museums and period ensembles and for most performances a couple of bass clarinets would have to be substituted. Any comments or advice on this piece are very welcome.
