This is an orchestration that Baines prepared of the 3rd of his Twilight Pieces for piano, "A Pause of Thought" (a title given to the work by Frederick Dawson, Baines’s original title was actually "Thoughtdrift").
The orchestral version was never performed in Baines’s lifetime and was finally premiered on 5 March 1974 in St John’s Smith Square, London, by the Kensington Symphony Orchestra under Leslie Head - along with Baines’s orchestration of "Island of the Fay."
