This arrangement was peformed for a church "pep-rally" at the Boston Avenue Methodist Church. A banjo, snare drum, and suspended cymbal were used for the (optional) rhythm section. It starts in the minor key as for a jazz funeral. The written parts are not difficult except for the first trumpet part. A few improvised solos or an ad-lib vocal will add to the performance. Please request a written solo via email if one is needed. For the premier, the tuba part was played as written, but it need not be so. The bass line may be improvised from the chords. The fast part may be played much faster than 120 if you have the chops.
I would like to do another quintet arrangement in this style. Suggestions would be appreciated.
