I adapted this clarinet choir arrangement from my brass quintet, "We Are the Martians," but expanded the original score to accomodate the high-pitched part for Eb soprano clarinet, along with other changes. In the audio playback, the optional substitute instruments, Bb contrabass clarinet (for Eb contra-alto) and basset horn (for Eb alto), are muted to avoid an imbalance. If no contras are available, ask a bass clarinet player to read from the contrabass score–better an octave high than not at all. If no timpanis are available, settle for any bass-pitched drum without snares.
